En Colombia, durante los primeros dos siglos de vida republicana, la iglesia católica continuo jugando un importante papel en el escenario social, político y educativo, al punto de influir significativamente en la vida nacional y particularmente en el proceso de formación ciudadana que se llevó a cabo en los espacios escolares. Este artículo se ocupa de este proceso a partir de los manuales escolares de religión y cívica utilizados en la formación ciudadana, para lo cual se analiza el discurso religioso y político presente en algunos de estos textos que circularon en el país durante los siglos XIX y XX. Publicaciones que contribuyeron a la construcción del nuevo sujeto requerido por la república: el ciudadano, cuyo imaginario estuvo marcado por Dios y la Patria.

ABSTRACT

In Colombia, during the first two centuries of republican life, the Catholic Church continued playing an important role in the social, political and educative scenario, to the point to influence significantly in the national life and particularly in the process of citizen formation that took place in scholar spaces. This reviews this process from a point of view of the scholar manuals of religion and civic teaching It also analyzes the religious and political speech used in these manuals which circulated in the country by XIX and XX centuries. Those publications contributed to the construction of the new man required by the republic: the citizen, whose mentality was marked by God and mother country.
