Se estudia la implementación de las festividades patrias como para crear el gentilicio venezolano durante el siglo diecinueve y su impacto en el Zulia, particularmente en los inicios de la República de Venezuela cuando se dotó de fechas fundacionales a la nación mediante el derecto-ley de 1834 y en el período de los gobiernos de Antonio Guzmán Blanco (1870-1888). Momentos claves en la construcción del Estado-nación y en la cimentación de la conciencia nacional.

STATE HOLIDAYS IN THE RECONSTRUCTION OF VENEZUELAN NATIONAL IMAGINARY: ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN ZULIA STATE DURING XIX CENTURY

ABSTRACT

Thist article revuews the implementation of holidays as a mechanism to create the venezuelan ethonym during XIX century and its impact in Zulia´s state, particularly, at the beginning of the Republic of Venezuela, when foundational dates were established by a decree-law in 1834, as well as during 1870-1888, periods of Antonio Guzmán Blanco govemment. These periods were crucial in the reconstruction of the State and in the foundation
of a national identity.
