PRÁCTICAS POLÍTICAS EN EL CARIBE COLOMBIANO A PRINCIPIOS DEL SIGLO XX*

Resumen (es)

En este ensayo se intentan explicar algunas tendencias predominantes en los comportamientos políticos de los dirigentes y activistas de la región Caribe colombiana a principios del siglo XX, a partir de los cambios a que fue sometida la división territorial denuestro país con la reforma constitucional de 1905, la cual fue reajustada en 1910. Se trata de configurar una visión de conjunto de algunos aspectos del pasado político de las principales localidades que conformaban la región Caribe colombiana durante las tres primeras décadas del siglo que acaba de concluir. Teniendo en cuenta las reflexiones vigentes en la historiografía colombiana, estimuladas por los nuevos tiempos de la historiografía universal, en las que se ha establecido la necesidad de construir la historiade las regiones, este trabajo responde parcialmente al nuevo ambiente que vive lainvestigación histórica en nuestra región Caribe. Se trata de reconstruir el devenir político de la región, en función de las algunas identidades políticas notables, de acuerdo con al carácter periférico de las ciudades costeñas y a la naturaleza casi emergente de las élites políticas regionales.

ABSTRACT

In this essay I try to explain some predominant tendencies in the political behaviours of the leaders and activists from the Caribbean region of Colombia at the beginnings of the 20th century, based on the changes that the territorial division had in our country with constitutional reform in 1905, which was readjusted in 1910. According to this, I try to configure a vision around some aspects in the political past of the principal localities that formed the Caribbean region of Colombia during the three first decades of the last century.

Taking a count the current reflexions about the Colombian historiography, stimulated by the new times of the universal historiography, it has established the necessity to constructthe history of the regions. This article answers partially to the new atmosphere that the historic reaching lives in our Caribbean region. This is about constructing the course of the politic in the region, in function of some notable political identities, due to the peripheralcharacter of the coastal cities and the nature almost emergent of the political elites of the region.
