Abstract
This article frames the contamination of the Ciénaga del Guajaro in the village of La Peña, Atlántico, Colombia, as a negative environmental impact that falls on the natural reserve. Despite previous efforts, the lack of environmental awareness has led to contamination with untreated waste and sewage, which affects water quality, people’s health, and the flora and fauna of the swamp. To obtain the information, an exploratory investigation was carried out under a field design, with a sample of 20 families surrounding the swamp. With the current work, the aim is to sensitize the community about this impact, promoting environmental and social responsibility. It is intended to create awareness through talks and seminars on the importance of preserving the ecosystem, improving the quality of life and promoting collaboration between the private sector, government agencies and the population in general.
