Remembrances of a Living Museum (Memory “Laboratory of Creation/Research Barrio Abajo del Río Barranquilla” in 2021)

Abstract

This article presents the memory of the creative-investigative process and the results obtained in two experiences carried out within the framework of the diploma program “Laboratory of Creation/Research Barrio Abajo del Río in Barranquilla” in 2021, which resulted in a documentary and a live presentation called “Remembrances of a Living Museum.” These projects were later circulated and presented to the community in 2022. The aim is to highlight the importance of making visible and understanding the richness of intangible heritage, culture, and identity in the dance and art of Barrio Abajo, promoting dialogue and the exchange of ideas among the audience. Additionally, it explores how the documentary can inspire and motivate those interested in expressing a way of life through dance within their environment. These projects were organized by the Ministry of Culture, Arts Directorate, in partnership with the Faculty of Fine Arts, social extension, and community outreach of the University of Atlántico, led by the Theater, Space, and Interactivity (TEI) Research Group, and the Secretary of Culture and Heritage of the District of Barranquilla, along with guest teachers from the Dance program of the University of Atlántico
