Abstract
Diatriba de amor contra un hombre sentado (1994), play of the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, is going to be studied in this article from the following question: How operates the language in a monologue that can be catalogued as a failed speech actor as a clear example of performative
language in literature? On first place we are going to study the concepts of performativity and speech acts, approached from Austin, Derrida and Deleuze’s notion; in a second stage Derrida concept of autobiography will be discussed in relation with the mentioned text.
