Abstract
There is currently a widespread crisis in the economy, society, the family, the environment and education in general, prevailing utilitarianism, consumerism and the loss of values. Create men with knowledge and awareness, able to develop proposals for welfare against the negative consequences of neoliberal globalization, it is a task that must be undertaken as a method and praxis. Higher education and the humanities in our countries face serious constraints, as their disciplinary and reductionist view does not offer adequate solutions to the great social problems, and sufferingnfrom a holistic context, disciplinary, cultural and complex answers. Current education paradigms, form or instruct but educate, college students become passive objects. No communication spaces are created to build knowledge and reveal values. Character discipline teaching university education becomes a science that divides and severs with empty abstractions and comprehensive grasp of the nature, society and culture does not reach the student as a systemic whole. In response, higher education and the humanities provides limited answers to social and economic problems, such as poverty and social inequality.
