Abstract
This article is the result of research focusing on sentiments and emotions that arise in individuals as a result of circumstances, persons, objects or situations that likewise generate unexpected forms or types of behavior. Specifically, the article addresses the emergence of nostalgia embodied in the writer, taking special care not to do so from a psychologizing perspectve that could turn the discourse into a series of empirical generalities or generalizations of incidences or actions that occur as “nostalgia” begins to surface. The argument posed is developed along four key points of analysis. First, that while nostalgia is an autonomous act of the “self”, it is paradoxically existent from the moment it is enacted by the “self”. The second point is an approach to the act of nostalgia. The third takes into consideration the upheaval experienced by the individual who pulls away from nostalgia, and lastly, a reflexion on the bodily experience at the emergence of nostalgia.
