Synopsis

It is presented the analysis of commercial alternatives for the power and motion transmission in solar tracking systems. External, internal and inertial forces of the system were considered as a function of the inclination angle in order to calculate the required power. After selecting the actuators and transmission of the system it was evaluated its structural safety using finite element analysis with the software SolidWorks. Current earthquake resistant Colombian normative (Reglamento Colombiano de Construcción Sismo Resistente-NSR10) was considered for the simulations. The energy that can be stored by the system was compared against the energy requires to move the cell along the day by considering the minimum charge periods. It was found that it is required at least 1,61 % of the stored energy for moving the system, under average environment conditions.
