Approximate solution of simple harmonic oscillator using the finite difference method

Abstract

In the present study used the method of the finite differences for the mathematical description of the simple harmonic movement of system mass spring. The method consists of an approach of the partial derivatives for algebraic expressions with the values of the dependent variable in a limited number of chosen points. As result of the aprroach, the partial differential equation that describes the problem is replaced by a finite number of algebraic equation, in terms of the values of the dependent variable in chosen points. The value of the chosen points turns into the unknowns and thus the system of algebraic equations can be solved across arithmetical operations. The solution of this method is compared with the ones solves analytically.
