Prostitution and medical knowledge: The Antivenereal Dispensary as institutionalization of medical knowledge for the regulation of prostitution in Barranquilla 1940-1945

El presente artículo busca concretamente analizar la importancia del Dispensario Antivenéreo en el proceso de institucionalización de las medidas higiénicas encaminadas a una regulación de la prostitución, para así demostrar que esta fue una de las constantes problemáticas sociales y sanitarias dentro de la ciudad y a la vez su transformación como tema recurrente en la reflexión médica de la época.

This article seeks to specifically analyze the importance of the Anti-Venereal Dispensary in the process of institutionalization of hygienic measures aimed at regulation of prostitution, to thus show that was one of the constant social and health problems within the city and at the same time its transformation as a recurring theme in medical thinking of the time.
