The guandú, leg marimba and mouth bow: musical instruments of the Colombian Caribbean region in via of extinction

Abstract
The guandú, leg marimba and mouth bow are instruments that were widely used in the Colombian Caribbean, but with the arrival of the electricity, the execution of these instruments diminished. This paper presents results of the ongoing research that study these instruments at risk of disuse and forgetfulness in the Colombian Caribbean region. This ethnomusicological study describes the social function, organological structure, and repertoire of the guandú, leg marimba and mouth bow, contributing to the diffusion and reactivation of these instruments.
