ABSTRACT

This paper highlights the importance of Candelario Obeso´s poetry from the late XIX century, which reflects an ethic view from the black identity perspective. Consequently, this work invites to question the rules established in that period and the cultural perception about oral expression as a way of regional identity. The new identity movements reveal its contemporary, critical, and humanized elements of this work point of view of the human being and the national dialect as marginalizing elements seeking a pure nationality, leaving behind pluralism and ethnic diversity.

KEY WORDS

Identity, national dialect, canon, borders, oral tradition, imagined communities, “The Other”.

</p>}, number={12}, journal={Cuadernos de Literatura}, author={Bolaño Sandoval, Adalberto}, year={2010}, month={dic.} }
