Palabras claveEducación, Alteridad, Convivencia, Reconocimiento comprensión y Democracia.ABSTRACTIn the book of Jacques Delors The Treasure Within (1997) emphasizes the four pillars of education. The last one, is related to learning to live together, a pillar that requires bet on education rooted in tolerance, empathy, dialogue, understanding and recognition of the other as an equal subject. Practices such as xenophobia, apartheid, discrimination generally arise among other things, ignoring nthe other as a valid interlocutor, as a being endowed with reason and reasons for acting as he does being. Massacres, holocausts, and massive forced displacement, genocide, ethnocide present because we have not learned to live together, to live with difference, with the alter ego.For this pillar, learning to live together, to crystallize the educational scheme should have a very significant shift, must stop being vertical and promote horizontal relationships, not to mention the nsubject of education, is a dual subject made both the teacher and the teacher. You cannot continue to develop unique character education, but should qualify to be reciprocal in nature, where both nthe teacher and the student, become involved in the process of teaching and learning. Education cannot continue to treat learners as instruments, like automatons beings as recipients, as utensils. Urge to overturn and understand the other, the student is a person who nbrings previous knowledge, expectations, interests, a reality, a semantic load, which must take it into account as a spur to the educational process. Based on Jean Paul Sartre, Estanislao Zuleta and Paulo Freire I intend to expose the need for education for otherness, recognition and understanding. These three authors agree in their dissertations on the problem of intersubjectivity and their implications.KeywordsEducation, Otherness, Coexistence, Understanding and Recognition democracy. ER -
